When purchasing your first firearm, you can consider things like:
#1 Background check:
You'll need to pass a background check to legally purchase a firearm.
You'll have to complete Form 4473, which includes questions relating to your background, drug use, and criminal history.
#2 Government ID:
You'll need a valid government ID that includes your name, address, birthdate, signature, and picture.
#3 Knowing your state laws
Each state is free to determine whether or not to give out the licenses. Certain states authorize open carry with or without a permit. Conceal carry regulations vary by state.
#4 Intended purpose:
Consider what you'll use the firearm for, such as self-defense, home protection, or target practice.
