In 2022, four states—Alabama, Ohio, Indiana, and Georgia—enacted laws permitting constitutional carry or permitless carry, thereby becoming the 22nd, 23rd, 24th, and 25th states to adopt such measures. Following this, in April 2023, Florida and Nebraska also implemented similar laws, ranking as the 26th and 27th states for constitutional carry. In 2024, Louisiana and South Carolina were added to this list, marking them as the 28th and 29th states. Over the last twenty years, more than half of the states in the United States have enacted laws that facilitate constitutional carry or permit-less carry.
